Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart Arrested With Oxycontin and Methadone That Didn’t Belong to Him

Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart was arrested over the weekend for “possession and trafficking in a controlled substance and burglary,” according to police in Florida. Police say Neidhart flipped while pumping gas and police were called. They found oxycontin and methadone in his possession. Neidhart’s name was not on the prescription bottle. How’d he get them? “Neidhart … allegedly went to her home and pried open the rear door of the home. He then stole her prescription pills, which are valued at more than $300, the sheriff’s office said.” Bret Hart, his former tag team partner, is rolling over in his grave.

EPPICard for unemployment benefits prove added burden

several failures to pass a Tier5 Extension Bill, EPPICard is now used by different states and it proves to be an added burden to claim unemployment benefits.

EPPICard is just like a bank account that is used for child support payments. The card looks like an ATM card.

Most of the time EPPICard charges some fees to claim unemployment benefits, though these charges are not supposed to be charged.

Fayetteville Observer reported on June 20 that administration fees plague the non-working people who can ill afford to pay. It is not in fact a payment easing method, but it has become a payment harder and taxing more to those who are claiming the benefits.

According to several media, the EPPICard program failed to go off. Moreover, the customer service calls are also chargeable. Currently, the EPPICard cash payday system is used in ninteen states. Most of the states are facing problem using it.

Hermine Dumps Heavy Rain In South Texas

A wet morning greeted San Antonians as rain driven by Tropical Storm Hermine soaked city streets and filled creeks and streams. The rain tapered off, but returned mid-morning, accompanied by blustery winds that shook trees and shrubs.

"(You) just (have to) be careful out there because it's really wet," said resident Nehemiah Moreno. "There's a couple areas where it's getting pretty deep in the water and stuff like that. (I) grabbed my umbrella (and tried) to leave the house a little earlier than I normally do, because it's pretty bad traffic. Accidents are going to be happening."With flash flood warnings in effect through the morning, most streets with low water crossings remained open to traffic. For some, cool, stormy weather was a welcome relief after weeks of hot weather."I kind of wish it would be on the low side of the amount, but any (rain) we get is good," said Brce Arbo.Officials with the Office of Emergency Management said their biggest concern going into Tuesday afternoon is the high winds that could blow limbs off trees and on to streets and powerlines.According to CPS Energy's website, about 3,000 customers were without power early Tuesday afternoon. Hermine Comes Ashore As when Hurricane Alex lashed the same flood-prone Rio Grande Valley in June, there was a feeling that Hermine could have been worse. There were no reports of serious injuries or major damage early Tuesday, and authorities ordered no evacuations.Hermine dumped between 5 inches to a foot of rain after crossing into Texas late Monday. The storm made landfall in northeastern Mexico with winds up to 65 mph (100 kph), arriving near the same spot as Alex, which killed at least 12 people in flooding in Mexico after remnant rains from the storm. But unlike Alex, which swiped Texas then plunged southwest into Mexico, Hermine was felt in more places."This is going to be much more of a memorable storm than Alex," National Weather Service meteorologist Joseph Tomaselli said Tuesday.Hermine left all but one block of Raymondville, about 20 miles off the Texas coast, without electricity and ripped roofs off several buildings. A 5-year-old girl was also cut by broken glass when gusts from the storm threw a trampoline through the window of her family's home, said Robert Supulver of Willacy County's emergency operations center."It was a lot of wind, a lot of rain coming real fast," Supulver said.As many as 30,000 homes were without power in the Rio Grande Valley early Tuesday, according to an online outage map of American Electric Power, the area's power utility. A company representative did not immediately return a message seeking comment.Shelters throughout Rio Grande Valley were on standby but mostly kept their doors shut, and offers for sandbags saw relatively few takers.Flash flood warning remained in effect Tuesday, but officials said first reports only indicated nuisances such as high water on neighborhood streets.Hermine might have been no Alex in terms of strength, but it wasn't taken lightly: Mexican emergency officials in Tamaulipas worked to evacuate 3,500 people around Matamoros, across the border from Brownsville and schools on both sides of the border canceled classes Tuesday.By early Tuesday, the center of the storm had crossed the Rio Grande River. The National Hurricane Center said the storm was about 15 miles south-southeast of Falfurrias, and 65 miles southwest of Corpus Christi. It was moving north-northwest near 17 mph.A tropical storm warning was in effect from the mouth of the Rio Grande north to Port O'Connor. Tropical storm warnings that had been issued for Mexico were canceled early Tuesday.Hours after Hermine made landfall, Coast Guard Ensign Scott Kimball said a fishing vessel had run aground at a jetty near South Padre Island. He did not have any more immediate details.Hermine was expected to weaken into a tropical depression later Tuesday. Tomaselli said remnants of Hermine will be felt as far north as Oklahoma and Kansas in the coming days.In Mexico, Hermine brought another unwelcome downpour.Mexico's northeast cattle-ranching region is one of the most dangerous hotspots in the country's bloody turf war between two drug cartels. It is the same area where 72 migrants were killed two weeks ago in what it believed to be the country's worst drug gang massacre to date.Mexican emergency officials urged those living in low-lying coastal areas to move to shelters. Classes in Matamoros and several other Mexican towns were canceled, and authorities began releasing water from some dams to make room for expected rains."We urge the general population to be on alert for possible floods and mudslides," said Salvador Trevino, director of civil defense for Tamaulipas, where Matamoros is located. In inland Hidalgo state, authorities said heavy rains caused by the passing storm unleashed landslides that damaged 20 homes, left 120 people homeless and cut off small communities. On South Padre Island, Hermine arrived too late to ruin another long weekend at the tourist hotspot. Alex plummeted Fourth of July hotel occupancies to about one-third of the normal rate, but most Labor Day weekend vacationers were already packing up for home by the time Hermine came into the picture."It really crept up on us," said Dan Quandt, executive director of the South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau.Tornado watches were in effect for 16 Texas counties early Tuesday.

Buckeyes-Hurricanes in 2003 Fiesta Bowl remains The Greatest Game Ever: Bill Livingston

The last time Miami and Ohio State played, it was only The Greatest Game Ever.

Yeah, ever, as in for all-time. Yeah, I'm talkin' about you, Texas. You too, USC. Both of you, take a number, in this case, "2," and step to the rear.

It has been almost eight years now, and the astonishment of Ohio State's 31-24 double-overtime victory has not faded. College fans will rehash the details this week, as the teams meet in Columbus for the first time since Jan. 3, 2003, in the BCS Championship Game in Tempe, Ariz.

The trendy choice for Game of the Decade will be Texas' 41-38 shootout victory over Southern California in the 2005 BCS Championship Game. The stars were everywhere in the Rose Bowl -- USC's Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush had won the Heisman Trophy and Texas' Vince Young certainly was good enough to have won one.

Texas-USC was a better video game. Ohio State-Miami was a better football game.

First of all, both teams played defense in the desert. Ohio State went after Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey the way Javert pursued Jean Valjean. Defensive end Will Smith swung an arm at Dorsey on the first play from scrimmage and down goes Dorsey! Linebacker Matt Wilhelm later hit him with a pile-driver of a tackle in the second overtime, knocking Dorsey out for a play and rendering him gibbering and helpless on the last play of the game on fourth down at the Ohio State 1-yard line.

ohio-state-miami-fiesta-bowl.JPGView full sizeOhio State punished Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl.

Because of the vicious punishment, it was a game of attrition. In addition to Dorsey's dazed, reduced state at the end, OSU nickel back Will Allen knocked Miami running back Willis McGahee out of the game with a helmet-to-knee hit just when McGahee's speed had begun to dominate the fourth quarter.

The kicking game and field position mattered in the game, too. OSU's lone breakdown in punt coverage led to the last-play tying field goal. The kicking game was an afterthought in the 2005 title game.

While USC-Texas adherents will debate the absence of Reggie Bush, even as a decoy, on the critical fourth-and-2 late-game plunge, and Bush's wacky lost lateral, and the knee-down lateral Young got away with, those plays can't compare to the binge of controversies in the Miami-Ohio State game.

Start with the endings. There were two of them, one in each overtime, and two sets of fireworks going off and two fan bases storming the field.

The first was set up by "The Call," the pass interference penalty in the end zone on Miami's Glenn Sharpe against OSU's Chris Gamble. "Cryami" still thinks back judge Terry Porter was some lone gunman out to change history. In fact, Sharpe held Gamble as he tried to get off the line, then chest-bumped him after Craig Krenzel threw the ball. It has since been named the "Call of the Decade," despite the initial infamy that attended it.

The Miami fans celebrated, the flag flew, the field was cleared, and it was the Buckeyes fans who celebrated last, turning the turf into a sea of scarlet in the second overtime.

There was also "The Steal," when Maurice Clarett ran down Miami safety Sean Taylor after an end zone interception, and not only tackled him but stole the ball as they tumbled to the ground.

If there had been replay review, "The Steal" might have been overturned. Micrometer-fine differences between success and failure were the norm -- on "The Steal," on Chris Gamble's non-fumble after catching a 57-yard bomb, on Miami's Wilhelm-tipped tying field goal that nipped inside the upright.

There was also "The Pass." Facing fourth-and-14 just before "The Call," Krenzel beamed a 17-yard laser to a spot just inside the sideline, to which Michael Jenkins had just cut. Many people think Miami, with 10 first-round NFL draft choices in 2003 and 2004, had more talent. But you have to be able to get a stop on fourth-and-14.

Texas beat USC because of the luminous play of one man, Young.

But many Buckeyes made big plays -- Krenzel, the leading rusher and Most Valuable Player; Clarett, the disaffected freshman, whose last carry as a Buckeye won the game after he broke a tackle in the backfield; Gamble, who played offense and defense and was in on 107 snaps; Jenkins; Mike Doss; Allen; Wilhelm. It was the ultimate team victory.

The Clarett scandal dominated the news the next season, but the championship was about much more than his sizable efforts. The 2003 Miami game created the template for Buckeye teams that have become almost permanent national contenders.

Saturday the Hurricanes try to return to the ranks of the elite programs against the team that stopped their epic 34-game winning streak. The Buckeyes of the championship game were part of something so big that only the best they could be was enough. It was exciting and improbable, and it remains prodigiously inspirational.

Reggie Bush Scandal Causes Him to Lose Heisman Trophy

Reggie Bush, the New Orleans Saints running back, will be having his Heisman Trophy stripped by the end of the month. It seems that the Heisman Trophy Trust in its investigations on the NCAA violations has reached the same conclusions as the NCAA. They have taken this decision, and they seem prepared to move forward with it and strip his award leaving him without any respect.

Reggie Bush will be the first player to ever have this prestigious trophy stripped from a player in the entire history of this award. The award has existed for 75 years, so that’s no little accomplishment. However, it is an accomplishment that I doubt Bush is proud of.

The Reggie Bush scandal revealed that the New Orleans player had revieved gifts and benefits while he had been playing with the Trojans. This had been in clear violation of the NCAA rules. Bush was ruled ineligible for season 2005, and the USC revieved a number of sanctions.

You might think that the 2005 Heisman Trophy would go to the runner-up, Vince Young, however, it seems not, according to the information recieved. The season will be declared vacant, and the trophy will go to no one.

College Football Rankings: Boise St. Gains Ground

Boise State gained seven first-place votes and closed in on No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State as the top three teams in the first regular season Associated Press football poll held their spots from the preseason.

The Broncos remained third after a thrilling 33-30 victory against Virginia Tech on Monday night, receiving eight first-place votes and 1,399 points from the media panel, 13 points behind the Buckeyes.

Ohio State received four first-place votes and 1,412 points.

Alabama had 47 first-place votes, down seven from the preseason poll, and 1,484 points in the rankings released Tuesday.

TCU from the Mountain West Conference moved up two spots to No. 4, marking the first time since the Bowl Championship Series was implemented in 1998 that two teams from conferences without automatic BCS bids have been in the top five. Boise State is the defending Western Athletic Conference champion.

Texas remained No. 5 and received one first-place vote.

No. 8 Florida dropped four spots after a sloppy 34-12 victory against Miami (Ohio) and No. 10 Oklahoma fell three places after beating Utah State 31-24.

The rest of the top 10 is Nebraska at No. 6, followed by Oregon, which moved up four spots after beating New Mexico 72-0. Iowa is No. 9.

No. 13 Virginia Tech dropped three spots after Boise State scored a touchdown with 1:09 left to beat the Hokies at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

Falling out of the rankings after close opening losses were Pittsburgh and North Carolina. Moving in were No. 23 South Carolina and No. 24 Stanford.

But the big story is Boise State and the Broncos very well could be the talk of college football all season.

They entered Monday with their best preseason ranking and a legitimate chance to be national championship contenders — if they could beat the Hokies and then flawlessly navigate a schedule with no games more difficult than the first.

Boise State jumped to a 17-0 first-quarter lead, watched that lead evaporate, then needed a two-minute drill capped by a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kellen Moore to Austin Pettis to win its 15th straight game.

"This was no fluke," said voter Brett McMurphy of AOL Fanhouse, who had Boise State No. 1 this week. "(The Broncos) outgained Virginia Tech and hung 33 on the Hokies. The last two teams to score more than 30 against (defensive coordinator) Bud Foster's defense — Alabama in 2009 and LSU in 2007 — went on to win the national title.

"Will Boise? Who knows, but the Broncos deserve the top ranking for this week anyway."

The Broncos have finished the last two regular seasons with perfect records, but neither time was it enough to earn them a spot in the national championship game. They were beaten out by teams from the so-called power conferences with BCS automatic bids, teams like Alabama from the Southeastern Conference and Ohio State from the Big Ten.

This season could be different. Boise State doesn't have to climb over scores of teams to get into position to contend for a spot in the BCS title game, spots determined in large part by the coaches' poll and the Harris poll.

Boise State was third in the coaches' poll this week, moving up two spots. The coaches also had Alabama first and Ohio State second. The Harris poll is not released until October.

"We've just got a long tough hard season, and the bull's-eye will continue to grow, and it's just going to be one game at a time," coach Chris Petersen said.

Not hard enough to satisfy some people.

Boise State plays at Wyoming in two weeks and gets a visit from Oregon State, which opened its season by losing 30-21 to TCU, the week after. The Beavers from the Pac-10 look like the best team left on Boise State's schedule, but the Broncos have lost one regular-season game on their blue turf home field since 2001. Toledo also visits Boise State.

As for the Broncos' WAC competition, well, it's been almost no competition for the Broncos the past decade. Boise State has won seven WAC titles and is 73-4 against conference opponents from 2000-09, a .948 winning percentage that is by far the best of any major college team.

Texas is second-best with an .841 percentage (69-13) in the Big 12 over that time.

Feeling it has outgrown the WAC, Boise State will be leaving the league after this season and joining the Mountain West.

The best teams the WAC can throw at Boise State this season are probably Nevada and Fresno State, though Hawaii and Utah State flashed potent offenses while losing their openers to ranked foes.

Fresno State comes to Boise on Nov. 19. The next week the Broncos have a road game at high-scoring Nevada that on paper seems to be their toughest remaining test.

They finish with Utah State at home on Dec. 4, the same day the SEC and Big 12 play its conference championship games.

If Boise State runs the table do they deserve a spot in the BCS championship game? Ahead of an unbeaten Big 12 or Big 10 champion? How about a one-loss SEC team?

Unless the Broncos take an unexpected stumble, the debate will rage all season.
