Tendulkar ton gives India hope of saving Colombo Test

Sachin Tendulkar extended his world record of 48 Test centuries as India fought to avoid the follow-on in the second game of the series against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old "Little Master" was unbeaten on 108 at the end of the third day, with the tourists on 382-4 - still 60 runs away from making Sri Lanka the BAT again.

He added 141 with debutant Suresh Raina, who also reached stumps with a patient 66 off 131 balls.

Tendulkar came to the crease with India lost two quick wickets after an opening stand of 165 by Virender Sehwag and Murali Vijay.

U.S.-S.Korea military exercises begin

TOKYO -- Taking their boldest step yet since the March sinking of the Cheonan warship, the United States and South Korea on Sunday began a massive joint military exercise designed to show off power and solidarity in a region divided by tensions.

The military muscle-buoy came after months of delays and revisions, and despite resistance from China and threats from North Korea.

The so-called "war games" are general exercises for U.S. and South Korean forces, but this operation codenamed "Invincible Spirit", which involved nearly unprecedented firepower - a specific deterrent against future reckless behavior from Pyongyang, U.S. officials said.

"The point of [exercise] is, I feel for sure that our relationship to the southern very strong ... and also send the message to the North Koreans that their conduct is completely contrary to international norms, totally unacceptable," Adm . Hayward has faced public anger in the U.S. and criticism from lawmakers over his handling of an oil spill that was triggered by an April 20 explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig, which killed 11 people. The U.K. oil company’s market value lost 48 billion pounds ($74 billion) as it battled to stop the biggest crude spill in U.S. history.

Voice of the Seventh Day Adventist Church leadership to keep the five mid-level officials in its current position of Trustees business meeting June 29.

Meeting of delegates at the Georgia Dome Atlanta Adventist World Session also voted to keep the managers section eight.

Angel Manuel Rodriguez was re-elected to serve as director of the Adventist Church's Biblical Research Institute, a post he has held since 2002. He and four other mid-level church officers were appointed Tuesday, June 29, at the church's World Session. It will be the area of the General Secretariat to continue to:

Paul S.. Brantley, Director of the Office of Evaluation and effectiveness of programs. A former university professor, was headed by Brantley office since 2007.

Gary D. Krause, who has held the post since 2004. Krauss also serves as Director of the Office of Adventist Mission.

Angel Manuel Rodríguez, who was also minister the director of Research Institute of the Bible since 2002. Previously served in the Americas.

Charles Sandefur, who was president of ADRA since 2002 and also head of the former Soviet Union.

Brad Thorpe, who was secretary of the area since 2005. Director of channel hope, and former missionary in Europe, Africa and North America.

Names of the five recommended by the Nominating Committee, paid a single complaint in the microphone in the floor of the Dome of Georgia. Delegates from Europe and expressed disappointment that the candidates, "again", all of whom are men.

In response, the committee chairman, Robert Body, chaired by Kate, which has more than 200 members, meets in private, is to try to fill positions with women "wherever possible."

Eight Section Administration re-appointment to the posts are:

Heather Dawn Small, director of ministries for women since 2005. Previously worked as director of children ministries, and roles in the Ministry of Women in the Americas.

Jonathan Kuntaraf, director of Sabbath School and Personal Ministries since 2005. Kuntaraf previously served in the Division for Asia and the Pacific and former Assistant Director of the ministries of the church.

Linda Koh, director of Children's Ministries since 2003. The Director of the Division of Far East associate in the ministries of children, and also in the same capacity in the Division for Asia and the Pacific.

Dr. Alan Hanysides, director of the Ministries of Health since 1998. Hanysides served as the Director of Health and the Director of moderation in Europe, Africa, and hospital and medical services.

John Graz, director of public affairs and religious freedom since 1995. Fill in the last post of Director of the Euro-Africa Division of Communication.

Faigao Howard, Publishing Director since 2005. Faigao previously worked in the publishing industry in South-East Asia.

Erica Boni, director of supervision since 2005. Pune, formerly a professor at the Faculty of Avondale, also director of the supervision department before moving to Maryland to work in the General Conference.

Gary Councell, Director of Chaplaincy Ministries Seventh-day Adventist. Councell served 36 years as pastor of United States military at one time, while 11 continued the church.
