After his arrest, Bengals RB Cedric Benson hires David Cornwell, who also represented Ben Roethlisberger

Cincinnati Bengals RB Cedric Benson hired attorney David Cornwell on Tuesday after he was arrested on charges of assault in Austin, Texas.

Benson are convicted of beating a worker at an Austin bar, after he was engaged in one incident there on May 30th Cornwell, in a statement to ESPN argued that Benson was not guilty of wrongdoing:

"While we strongly dispute that a crime Cedric, Cedric will continue to cooperate with law enforcement, the Bengals and the NFL in their investigation into these events."

Sam Bassett, an attorney for Benson, told the AP that an Affidavit that Benson's alleged attack, not the actual events.

"Although he does not entirely agree with the version from the facts displayed in the court filings," Bassett told the AP, "He does not want his comments make public at this time."

"Mr. Benson has always been willing to cooperate with the Austin police to his version of what happened as long as he could tell a lawyer present," he said. "The Austin police decided to proceed with the procurement of an arrest warrant without the permission of Mr Benson's side of the story. "

Cornwell also represented Ben Roethlisberger because he faced allegations of sexual aggression in Georgia Earlier this offseason. Roehtlisberger was not charged.
