Former Bear Cedric Benson Arrested For Assault

Former Bears running back Cedric Benson is in conflict with the law again.

Benson, currently with the Cincinnati Bengals, was arrested Tuesday and charged with misdemeanor assault in the May 30 incident in Austin, Texas. He was released on bond from Travis County, Texas, Jail.

Benson is accused of punching the bar staff at the center of Austin.

Benson was the first-round draft pick for the Bears from the University of Texas. He started 12 games for the Bears from 2005 to 2007, running for 1,593 yards and 10 landings.

But the Bears were asked to let Benson go after two alcohol-related arrests in Texas. He was arrested on 05th 2008 on charges of boating under the influence of alcohol and resisting arrest, and again in June of that year on drunken driving charge in Austin, Texas.

He signed with the Bengals in September 2008.
