Icelandic Sheepdog


The Icelandic Sheepdog is a breed of dogs coming to Iceland brought by groups of Vikings. The dog resembles the Norwegian Buhund and the Welsh Corgi. In Iceland, the dogs are often used to herd sheep in the countryside.
They are rather long, muscular and strong. Their chest is long, deep and extends all the way to her forearm. Their tail is set high on their backs. Their strong head, and a little bit bigger than most dogs. Their ears are medium in size, and they are a very mobile dog that a large amount of land in a very short period of time can cover.

They resemble other species that breed in Denmark and Sweden is about 8000 BC Similar dogs have been found in graves in the area.
Both the plague and distemper nearly three quarters of all Icelandic Dogs slain in the late 19th century. Eventually, Iceland even forbidden to dogs in the country in the hope that they stop the spread of disease. This did not help the Icelandic Sheepdog to properly recover from their previous plague-related problems.
